General / 05 January 2025

In this video I give you a brief introduction on how to do lighting using atmospheric settings. Most  videos I have seen depend solely on directional light, sky light and post process to achieve an overcast lighting. I will explain what to keep in mind for overcast lighting or generally when lighting exterior to replicate realistic settings. I mention Atmosphere Height, Multiscattering, Mie Anisotrophy, Mie Exponential Distribution, Rayleigh Scattering, Exposure value setting, sunlight lux setting, extinction scale, scattering distribution and more. You should be able achieve  results like below that supports technical artist and graphics programmer later down the line when more complex tools or calculations are added into the pipeline.
